The brief
Two bedrooms never got warm and the bathroom radiator was rusting through. The owners wanted a warmer house without replacing a boiler that was still in good condition.
What we did
We worked out the heat each room actually needs and found the bedroom radiators were far too small. We replaced them with larger ones in the same positions, so there was no need to lift floors.
In the bathroom, a tall white ladder towel rail replaced the old radiator, giving more heat and somewhere to dry towels. We fitted thermostatic valves throughout so each room can be set to its own temperature.
Finally, we cleaned the system and fitted a magnetic filter to keep it clean from now on, then balanced the radiators so they all heat up evenly.
